VP User Experience Buildium, Boston, MA, February 2011-July 2015

  • Modernized the information architecture and brand of the Buildium application allowing the company to grow product adoption from 2,000 to 10,000+ customers while increasing subscription prices.
    • Improved usability by shifting away from a data-driven information architecture towards a user centered one
    • Created a distinct and appealing look and feel that contributed to Buildium’s transformation from a low-cost provider to a value-priced product
    • Designed dozens of product improvements to drive customer satisfaction and adoption
    • Creative direction for Buildium’s brand including updates to the Buildium mark, and supporting design elements
    • Oversaw the design of multiple versions of the inbound marketing site
  • Developed a mobile product strategy and roadmap for addressing the market shift toward multiple devices
    • Staged rollout allowed the engineering and design organization to learn and grow mobile focused skills over time
    • Oversaw the creation of responsive versions of emails, marketing site, and Buildium’s resident payment portal

  • Created a web tool for IDEXX to enable cat owners and vets to access, understand, and share local prevalence data for three preventable feline diseases as part of a product launch
  • Led the design of an award winning NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racing site with a custom CMS system for Con-way trucking

  • Led the design of the new L.L. Bean call center order placement and inquiry system
  • Led the design of project enhancing the existing L.L. Bean call center Java Swing application. Enabled level 1 reps to perform more advanced customer service functions resulting in higher user satisfaction and lower call times
  • Provided interaction design, HTML prototyping and functional specifications for a dynamic content delivery application for Orange Imagineering using the Orange SPV Smartphone
  • Transformed RedBird’s innovative security technology into functional product specifications and screen designs for offshore development

Senior Information Architect – Manager of User Experience, Sapient Corporation, Cambridge, MA, full-time April 1999-January 2003

  • Represented the Sapient Energy Services business unit for two years supporting business development and the User Experience practice
  • Developed a long term user experience and brand strategy for NYISO online applications leveraging extensive in-context interviews and observation
  • Provided visual and interaction design for the NYISO OSS energy scheduling system allowing energy traders to schedule electricity across multiple energy markets
  • Led the information architecture track for the Staples 2.0 redesign, which included new site structure and advanced personalization functionality
  • Led the UI track for the visual and functional port to the platform including management of the third-party design team and facilitation of client workshops to gather screen and business requirements

  • Host and organizer of the local UX meetup for the Providence RI area. The PVDUX meetup helps people interested in UX and UX professionals to learn more about the field and meet other UX professionals in a casual setting.
